Is Green Really the New Black?

GreenerySpring is in full swing and it’s time to ditch our winter darks for pops of vibrant green. Or is it? On the latest issue of LA Fashion Magazine’s interview with yours truly I suggested green is the new black. However, I didn’t make this up out of thin air. I promise.
From the article written by Gabriella Layne:

LA Fashion Magazine: “GREEN IS THE NEW BLACK To follow suit with the garden feel of the season, the color of the season is undoubtedly green along with complimenting colors, according to experts at PANTONE. Prominently seen throughout SS17 runway collections including BOTTEGA VENETA and COACH, rich shades of green are paired with lush texture and intricate prints to create sleek yet dimensional looks.”

Me: “Considering PANTONE’s Color of the Year is Greenery, all shades of green are super hot this year. Colors, hues, and shades that are in the same family and pair well with Greenery are making it into our closets as well; blues, yellows, pale and bright pinks and a soft hazelnut neutral.” —Rayne Parvis

I was just the”color” messenger. However, it was Pantone, an X-Rite company and the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries, deemed Greenery to be the color of the year for 2017.

According to Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, “While Serenity and Rose Quartz, the PANTONE Color of the Year 2016, expressed the need for harmony in a chaotic world Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the hope we collectively yearn for amid a complex social and political landscape. Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate, revitalize and unite, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.”

Greenery is popping up in home decor, tech design, logos, fashion, beauty and in food and beverages. Grab something green and sport it with confidence! You may see less of it next year as the color of the year changes but the color will never go out fo style. May you receive all Greenery has to offer you in revamping, renewing and radiating.
